We are HIS, Adopted by God

As we come into the family of God, through our faith in Christ, do you realize that we have been adopted into His Family? We are Brothers and Sisters, through Christ, who paid the adoption price with His own blood, for our access. We are Our Father’s sons and daughters forever!

But, as with any adoptive process, there are blessings and privileges, rights and responsibilities to know, understand, and embrace. As we begin to walk forward in our Journey with God, there are many new discoveries and challenges. Think about how a new adoptee member and the Adoptive family begin their new adoptive journey together. (Not all these points will fit the scenario but consider the concept.) First, realize that the Family has intentionally chosen you, loves you, and has made a commitment for you to be with them. They have been working very hard to prepare a place for you. There have been many early “getting acquainted” meetings to begin getting to know you. There have been professional meetings and documents to be submitted. They are excited about your coming. You also have been walking on this adoptive journey, hoping to find the security of life you have wanted. To be Loved as you long to be loved and respected. So, the day finally comes, when you all commit your love and life together, forever! What a glorious day this is! It’s Celebration Time!

Now the adventure begins, right? At first both sides will try very hard to do their best to accept the situation, warts and all. There will be fun times, awkward times, and “off-road” arguments. But this is where real relationship begins, and it is forged through those challenges. It’s the same as we begin our new relationship with Him.

But this is the scenario God is longing for… He knows it will be bumpy at first. He understands you are just beginning, and he is patient as He mentors and empowers you to grow and mature into the son and daughter, that he has envisioned. But the question remains. Will you choose to be His? That is the question. Will you choose your Creator’s plan or the one you have created independently in your heart. Can you stay the course knowing that He has promised to be with you every step of the way? The Choice is completely yours. Choose Wisely.

Next time we’ll look at our Family Trait… Holiness.
